My Top Four Jasmine Thompson Remixes

I rank in reverse order my four favorite remixes of a Jasmine Thompson song.

Although I tried, I wasn't able to listen to them all, there are so many remixes. It's a testament to the power of Jasmine's music that so many DJs want to give tribute to her songs. And in choosing my favorites, I was guided by these criteria:

(1) Listenability: Is it catchy? Do I want to listen to the track again? Does it hold up upon repeat listens?

(2) Respects original yet adds interesting elements: Don't like remixes that over-edit and distort the source song. A good remix, imo, stays true to original, doesn't over-edit, and still brings something new that's in flow with original.

Here are my top four:

3. Teemid's Remix of Take Me To Church: Very well done. Complex yet accessible. Has a fun, slightly jazzy beat, making you want to snap your fingers along with it. Love the string melodies, love how it ends with Jasmine singing her beautiful "amens."

2. Felix Jaehn's Remix of Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better): I reviewed it here. Extremely catchy, great xylophone medley and fully in spirit of Jasmine's original cover.

1. Kungs' Remix of Candy Live (Video by HiltonPattaya): Great remix, made even greater by HIltonPattaya's video, which synchs the music to clips from a dance musical. The added beat and effects go so well with Jasmine's sweet sounding vocals. Love the xylophone medley. This remix really grabs you from the get go. Then add the brilliant video . . . absolutely sublime.
