REVIEW: The Music of Featured JasMag Artists Nina Morgan & Martine Singer

In this post, I review the songs of two artists featured in JasMag, an online magazine showcasing Jasmine Thompson and her music. The magazine regularly features an up and coming artist whose goal is to reach Jasmine's level of acclaim and success. This blog will review the songs of each artist included in future editions of JasMag.

NINA MORGAN, featured in JasMag One, is a budding singer/songwriter from France who sings both original and cover songs. My undisputed favorite song of hers is Sweet and Sour Me, a fantastic original song with music and lyrics written by Nina.

I absolutely love the song. After I listened to it a couple of times, it really grew on me, and it went straight onto my Youtube playlist of favorite songs. It's a slow, folksy song with a very catchy melody. It's also sung in a beautiful and in a evocative, haunting way. The song lingers with you long after you have finished listening to it. Highly recommended.

MARTINE SINGER, featured in JasMag Two, is a budding singer/songwriter from Norway who has an impressive resume of both original and cover songs on her Youtube channel. My favorite song of hers is a beautiful cover of Sam Smith's ballad Leave Your Lover.

When you listen to the song, what you are struck by is the power and pure tone of Martine's voice. There is a crystal-clear quality to it that is rich with emotion and very pleasing to the ears. Martine's cover has a more gentle quality and is not quite as tragic as Sam Smith's original. The way she sings the song actually reminds me of the melodic grace of the Beatle's classic song, Blackbird. The cover is a resounding success.
